About vfw post 5205
VFW Post 5205 was officially created on January 3, 1946 when it received it’s charter from the National Headquarters of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The mission of the post is to honor the dead and help the living through veterans’ services and community service.
The VFW informs and assists its members in obtaining their due benefits from state, local and federal sources including the Veterans Administration and the GI Bill.
The historic post headquarters at 8217 Germantown Avenue in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, PA was purchased on May 29, 1950 from the Knights of Pythias of Pennsylvania. It has been maintained and updated by the VFW and its members for over 60 years and serves as the meeting place for Post on the third Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM from September to June.
If you have received a campaign medal for overseas service, have served 30 consecutive or 60 non-consecutive days in Korea or received hostile fire or imminent danger pay, then you are eligible to join the VFW.
