Please note the section in the Bulletin and G.O. referencing "VFW HONORS AMERICA’S TEACHERS." More information on this program can be found here (click this link). I am looking for one motivated volunteer to lead this effort on our behalf and collect nominations for a teacher(s) in the Chestnut Hill / Mt Airy area. Please respond back if you would like to take on this challenge.
If any of the other programs identified in the bulletin are something you would like Post 5205 to pursue, please let me know. Please note that post participation in the following events are obligatory as per the attached General Order #1:
Voice of Democracy, Patriots Pen, Smart/Maher VFW National Citizenship Education Teachers’ Awards, Buddy Poppy and National Military Services.
There is no August meeting, but several members will be at the Post on Thursday, August 14th at 1930 for a card game / social event. Seats at the card table fill up fast so get there early or you may be left standing around! Guests and prospective members (especially) are welcome. We will be joined at this event by Dr. Jeff Heckman, Director of the Regional Amputation Center at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System - Dr. Heckman is in Philly coordinating the National Veterans Wheelchair Games. Let's see if he's any good at cards.
